My First Post

I've decided to start documenting my journey as I sew for my kids. I have been quilting for a couple of years now, and have just started to sew garments. I have has some successes and some failures, and I plan to share both. I also felt like I was spending a lot of time reading everyone else's blog and taking all of your good ideas, but I have yet to share anything with anyone else. Maybe because I'm a new sewer and don't feel like I am in a position to give advice to anyone. All I can do is share, and maybe one person will read my lonely little posts and get something out of it. I have recently become hooked on all things Farbenmix and Studio Tantrum, but when I started, I got some traditional patterns. Postings on the projects from Sewing Clothes Kids Love will be following in the next couple of days.
So..... for my first post, I will share the first thing I made for my oldest daughter. It is a little jumper that I made out of fine wale corduroy fabric.

I used this pattern, and as you can see I adapted it just a bit.
It seemed like the gathered piece would make the whole thing just a big bunch of yuck. You should have seen the amount of fabric that was supposed to go on it. I then took some ribbon, twirled it around a dowel, attached it with clothes pins, and baked it to make the korker bows that went on front as a decoration. Viola done! I will try to post a pic soon with an actual child wearing the garment. My models aren't always cooperative.
